When it comes to snacking, finding options that are both delicious and nutritious can sometimes feel like a challenge. But if you’re a fan of Asian flavors and ingredients, T&T Supermarket is a treasure trove of healthy snack options. As a dietitian, I’m always on the lookout for snacks that are not only tasty but also support a balanced diet. Here’s my review of healthy snacks to buy:
1.Fruit and nut medley
Nuts are great sources of nutrients such as fiber, protein, healthy fat, vitamins, and minerals. This "fruit and nut medley " is a great option for snack because it has been prepackaged to individual package, which is important for portion control.
Each pack (25gram) has 140 calorie, 4 gram protein, 1 gram fiber. It has cashews, almonds, dried cranberry, macadamia nut, raisin, and coconut chips.
2. Sesame seaweed crisps
This snack is a good choice considering it has white sesame, seaweed, and pumpkin seed. It has added sugar and oil, so portion control is important.
15gram of this snack has 70 calorie, 2 gram protein, 9 gram carbohydrate, and 3 gram sugar.
3.Pumpkin seed
Pumpkin seeds are rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fat. Specifically, it has a great source of magnesium.
In 28gram unshelled pumpkin seed, it has about 168 mg magnesium, which is about 40% our daily requirement for magnesium.
4. Chestnut
Compared to nuts, chestnuts are actually high in carbohydrate but low in fat. It is a great snack option because it helps to increase our satiety and also provides us with a great vitamins and minerals profile.
Do you know? Chestnut is a low glycemic index food, and the glycemic index of chestnuts is 54.
In 50gram chestnuts, it has 100 calorie, 0.5 gram fat, 4 gram fiber, 2 gram protein.
